Access

You can visit Beppu by means of train, plane and bus from each place. Transportation is convenient for a rural city. It is also convenient as the base of stay because of easy access to neighboring main sightseeing spots.

By airplane

Regular flight services are available on a daily basis from Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya to Oita Airport. In addition to this, international flight services from Seoul are available twice a week. It takes 40 minutes from Oita Airport to Beppu by the airport limousine bus. (One-way fare is \1,450 as of year 2002).

Fukuoka Airport provided easy and convenient access to Beppu if you are traveling from Europe, America and Asia. Many airlines use Fukuoka Airport. Access to Beppu from Fukuoka Airport is convenient either by limousine buses, which leave directly from the airport, or by trains, which leave from JR Hakata station. Both ways take approximately 2 hours.

By train

If you are accessing to Beppu from Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, you can take Shinkansen to JR Kokura station and change to another train bound for Beppu. It takes around 1 hour 30 minutes from Kokura to Beppu.

By ferry

There are a ferry services to access to Beppu from Osaka. If you have enough time to enjoy the trip or travel by your own car in the area, ferry services are quite useful.
